Closing the Gap: Aligning Perception with Reality

Closing The Gap uses data from the Rise Above Colorado Youth Survey to engage teens in important discussions including:

  • the fact that most CO teens are not using substances
  • how our perceptions inform our attitudes, norms & behaviors
  • risk & protective factors
  • the real stressors of being a teen in today’s world & positive coping strategies  

Closing The Gap helps participants better align perceptions with reality and promotes positive community norms.

Beyond the Screen: Critical Thinking in the Digital Age

Beyond the Screen empowers teens to better navigate their ever-changing world. It includes opportunities to explore:

  • various types of media
  • media’s subtle & more obvious messages and impacts on mental health & wellness
  • critical thinking strategies to make more informed decisions across their lives
  • positive coping strategies to support mental health & wellness

Beyond the Screen includes data & discussion opportunities for young people to be more skilled at taking in information in a rapidly changing landscape, which will benefit them in a variety of contexts.

How To Be a Good Friend is a low-facilitation, high impact social and emotional learning (SEL) resource that helps teens reflect on & practice what it means to be a good friend. It includes tips on:

  • effective listening
  • having difficult conversations
  • being a supportive friend online
  • connecting self & others to help when necessary
